God cares about the small things…

Earlier this week I needed to fill up my car with gas. My gas light was on and unfortunately I was not close to the gas station that I normally like to go to. I usually stop at selective gas stations that I feel safest at. Although this was daytime I still felt a little uncomfortable at this location. When I drove in I was relieved that there was another lady getting some gas so I pulled up next to her so I could be near to someone. The lady was on her phone as she was pumping her gas. I honestly was trying to hurry because I didn’t want her to leave me by myself. Lol. I know I sound ridiculous but I didn’t see anyone around and I didn’t want to be alone.

While I was getting gas, I had a thought in my head and wondered, “Could God somehow make this lady stay longer, until I am all done and get back into my car?” I hadn’t even spoken a prayer. It was more of a question to myself. I thought, “If God’s listening to my thoughts then I wonder if He could make this lady hang around longer?” I don’t know why I doubted but if I’m being honest, I did doubt. I guess I wondered if it was too small to pray about and if it even mattered. I am so glad to say what happened next.

The lady got back into her car but she stayed there. I am not sure if she was still on her phone but she stayed in her car. I put my gas cap back on, grabbed my receipt, and got back in my car. We left at the same time. :) I don’t know why she decided to stay. Did she feel in her spirit that she needed to stay or did she get distracted being on the phone? I never met her and I didn’t speak a word out loud. Whatever the case, I know it was God showing me that He cares about the small things and that He is in those moments as well.

Thank you God for caring about what I care about.

Hello Blog Readers!

I just wrote this poem and wanted to share it with you first. :) The title of my poem is called, "Someday". I also included a little story behind the poem. I hope you enjoy it!

Someday is about the times I looked back and realized that I kept saying I was going to do something (write a book, go on trips, learn a new language, invent something) but years passed by and I never took the initiative to make it happen. There are certain goals that we can make a time frame for and hold ourselves accountable to complete those goals by a specific year or date. Life has been more exciting and more meaningful to me, now that I’m actively planning and working towards goals that I desire to achieve.

Someday

Someday is not a day of the week

Someday is a thought that we can only speak

Someday can’t be scheduled or found

It’s a big daydream that we carry around

Someday is not to be your friend

It keeps you distracted from what you need to begin

Someday keeps you hypnotized

As the days and years keep passing by

Someday is always out of reach

You can’t plan for a day that you cannot see

Make a choice and decide today

That you are going to throw that Someday away

Make a plan and set a date

Attain the goal, it’s not too late

I saw a movie recently that showed a family traveling by foot to an unknown place. The father took the lead and went first as he told everyone to follow in his footsteps. That reminded me of what a great and loving God I serve. God leads His children and shows us the right direction. He has already gone before us and He guides us to get us to where we need to be.
There may be times of spiritual growth that involve the unknown or we may find ourselves in circumstances that are unfamiliar but God is trustworthy and He does not leave us nor forsake us. I trust in Him to show me the way.

Deuteronomy 31:8, " The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

This is in addition to my previous post. Have you ever been in a position where you've tried to help someone and they respond by saying, "I know. I know." But then they don't do it?
Or maybe you've caught yourself saying that?
For whatever reason, sometimes we don't do what we know we should do.
I have really tried to hold myself more accountable and be obedient when God is asking me to do something. There are sometimes when I honestly want to do it my own way but being obedient in the small things has really helped to build my faith and hear His voice more clearly.
I have also learned not to try and convince myself that I'll "do it later" because it doesn't get done.
I am making it a habit to do things when God asks me to do them, the way He's asked me to do them. It can be challenging sometimes but it's worth it. Although I know the right thing to do, I haven't walked in obedience until I've done what He's asked me to do.
Knowing and doing are two different things.

Hello Blog Readers, :)

I wanted to post a thought that I've had in mind for a while. Think about how we might see this in our everyday lives. It has helped me to hold myself accountable and take a step of faith to trust God and be more obedient.

"Knowing and doing are two different things."
